چکیده

A recursive blind equalizer is presented that directly estimates the transmitted symbols of multiple cochannel signals in the presence of ISI. The algorithm exploits shift structure present in the data model and the finite alphabet property of the signals. The proposed method possesses a separation property that allows the symbol sequences for each user to be estimated independently of the others. Problematic issues surrounding unknown and mismatched channel lengths for the cochannel users can be handled effectively in the recursive equalizer. Additionally, if the cochannel signals are encoded prior to transmission, we show how the code structure can be incorporated into the recursive equalizer to improve its performance.

Nonlinear techniques for the joint estimation of cochannel signals

Cochannel interference occurs when two or more signals overlap in frequency and are present concurrently. Unlike in spread-spectrum multiple-access systems where the different users necessarily share the same channel, cochannel interference is a severe hindrance to frequencyand time-division multipleaccess communications, and is typically minimized by interference rejection/suppression techniqu...

Integrated Approach to Demodulation and Decoding of Convolutionally Coded and Orthogonally Modulated DS-CDMA Signals

The system under study is a convolutionally coded and orthogonally modulated DS-CDMA system in time-varying frequency selective Rayleigh fading channels. After convolutional encoding and block interleaving, information bits are mapped to Mary orthogonal Walsh sequences. In conventional systems, Mary symbol demodulation and convolutional decoding are conducted separately in the receiver, only ha...

Iterative channel estimation and decoding for convolutionally coded anti-jam FH signals

In this paper, an iterative algorithm for joint decoding and channel estimation in frequency-hopping (FH) networks is proposed. In the proposed algorithm, soft decoder outputs are used in the iterative estimation of the time-varying variance of the additive interference resulting from the sum of the thermal noise, partial-band noise jamming, and other-user interference. The soft outputs are als...

Soft-Output Multiuser Estimation for Asynchronous CDMA Channels

In this paper, we consider several multiuser demodulation schemes for a direct-sequence code-division multiple access (DS-CDMA) system that provide soft-outputs to enhance single-user soft-decision decoders. First, we derive an optimum soft-output multiuser estimation (OSOME) algorithm for asynchronous CDMA channels with white Gaussian noise (WGN). The algorithmgen-erates a posteriori probabili...

A Generalized Pre-Processor for Block and Convolutionally Coded Signals

The concept of a generalized data pre-processor for preliminary estimates of block and convolutionally encoded symbols is described and evaluated. Preliminary data estimates are envisioned to have application in removing binary phase-shift-keyed (BPSK) modulated data from the received carrier prior to phase estimation, particularly in low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) environments where squaring ...
